The firm was founded in 1993 by Bruce A. Hake. Until 2012 it was called Bruce A. Hake, P.C. In 2012, Mr. Hake entered a partnership agreement with Brian C. Schmitt and the firm’s name was changed to Hake & Schmitt.
The firm was originally located in Takoma Park, Maryland. From 1997 until 2000 its offices were in Silver Spring, Maryland. From 2000 to 2006 its offices were in Damascus, Maryland. Since 2007 its offices have been in New Windsor, Maryland, a picturesque small town about 40 miles northwest of Baltimore. Please note that you don’t need to travel to our office in Maryland, although we’d be happy if you did. We represent clients from around the world, communicating mainly by telephone and email.
The firm focuses on a relatively small number of complex cases, mainly J-1 waiver matters. We also handle many kinds of miscellaneous matters.
This law practice is based on our belief that all human beings have God-given natural rights to travel and to work as they will. We believe it is our duty, and calling, to help secure these rights, in compliance with the law.
Our goal is to have warm relationships with clients and to be very accessible. We give close, personal attention to every client.
We do not charge for email consultations, and we try to help as many people as possible. We charge $200 for telephone and in-person consultations.
We would be delighted to hear from you about your immigration situation, or about anything on this Web site.
